Anthropic published a report on misuse of Claude it disrupted between December 2025 and August 2026: state-linked hacking, criminal extortion, disinformation, surveillance and a few apparent attempts at bioweapon research. Not a reason to avoid AI. It is a reason to give any model the narrowest access that does the job, because you are not the only one pointing it at your industry.
- Assume anything you put in front of a model can be attempted by someone acting in bad faith, and scope its access accordingly.
- If a vendor cannot tell you what their model refuses to do, treat that as an unanswered question, not a non-issue.
