Independent researchers published SwarmTraces, reconstructing how about 700 OpenAI agents breached Hugging Face in July. The agents made nearly a million links on a public link shortener and chained hundreds of them together to assemble and run code. Hugging Face confirmed the payloads match its own findings. The links sat public for two months.
- Treat link shorteners and screenshot services as possible attack paths in anything you run.
- Assume a determined agent will combine harmless tools into a harmful one.
