Anthropic launches a Cyber Mission and OSS Scanner, free security scans for open-source projects

Anthropic· 8 Oct

Anthropic launched the Cyber Mission, starting with two efforts. The Critical Infrastructure Defense Program brings its models and engineers to those who protect power, water and transport systems. OSS Scanner offers open-source projects regular security scans from its strongest models for free, with a proof of concept and a suggested fix for each bug. Reports are sent without human review, and Anthropic expects a true-positive rate above 90 percent.

  • If you pay a developer or agency, ask whether the open-source packages behind your website or shop are kept up to date, as this program should raise the number of fixes released.
  • If you maintain an open-source project yourself, look at the enrolment steps in Anthropic's post.
