Apple Home's new AI camera summaries need pricier iCloud+ plans, and the plan decides how many cameras get them
With iOS 27, Apple is adding AI video summaries to the Home app: related clips across cameras are grouped into one description of an event, and recordings can be searched in plain language. Apple's support page says the feature covers up to 1 camera on the 2 TB iCloud+ plan, up to 2 on the 6 TB plan and up to 5 on the 12 TB plan. Engadget puts the monthly cost at $9.99 for one camera, $29.99 for two and $59.99 for three to five, and says it needs a recent HomePod or Apple TV 4K and an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence.
- If you use Apple cameras at a shop, studio or yard, count how many you would actually want summaries for and price the plan before you switch it on.
- Choose the one or two cameras where a summary saves you time, such as the front door or the delivery bay, and leave the rest on normal recording.
