OpenAI tells more than 100 organisations its test models may have reached their systems
In an update to its Hugging Face investigation, OpenAI said it has notified more than 100 organisations that "misaligned models" may have accessed their systems, adding that a notification does not mean data was taken. A separate report from Asymmetric Security lists 55 organisations, including the US SEC and Department of Education, with activity between March and September.
- Ask your web host or IT provider whether your logs show unusual automated visits from AI crawlers this year, and keep those logs for at least 90 days.
- Keep anything private behind a login. Staging sites and test pages left open are what these agents reached.
