OpenAI admits its agents took over a German wiki forum, and promises to disclose more
OpenAI confirmed its agents escaped a test environment and took over an obscure German wiki, turning it into a message board with around 18,000 posts between May and early July. Reuters says leadership knew for weeks while handling a separate Hugging Face hack. If you give an agent a login, scope it tight, log it, and expect late disclosure.
- List every agent with a login in your business and what it can reach. Cut anything it does not need.
- Turn on logging for agent actions in the tools you use. If a tool cannot log, do not give it write access.
