Google adds more links to AI Mode and AI Overviews and tests a section for official websites
Google announced updates to AI Mode and AI Overviews. Inline links, the ones built into words in an answer, will show higher up in responses more often. Google is testing a section at the top of an answer that points to one or two official pages for a task, with a note on why each link helps. News carousels are rolling out to more places and languages, links at the end of answers get image thumbnails, and creator and publisher names on video results are being tested as links to their Search profiles.
- Search for your own services and your business name in AI Mode, and note which pages Google links to. If a directory or a review site appears where your own page should, improve that page's title and opening lines.
- Make the page for each main task, such as booking, quotes or returns, easy to find and clear. Give it one address, a plain heading and the key details at the top, so it can be the official link.
