Amazon turned off Alexa voice commands for the AUX input on four older Echo speakers
Engadget reports that Amazon has disabled Alexa voice commands such as "Alexa, play from line in" and "Alexa, set AUX input" on the second-generation Echo Plus (2018), third-generation Echo (2019), original Echo Studio (2019) and fourth-generation Echo (2020). Amazon confirmed the removal, and told The Verge it notified the very small number of customers who use it.
- If you use the AUX jack, plug in the cable as before and switch the input on or off in the Alexa app instead of by voice.
- If you rely on a voice assistant feature, note the date you bought the device, as features on older models can be removed without a price change.
