Spotify plans to charge about $5 a month extra for an AI remix button in early 2027
BGR reports that Spotify said on 20 October it is partnering with Believe on an AI remix feature. Per a Financial Times report, subscribers will pay about $5 a month extra to generate a remix or cover of any taking-part track with one button. It is slated to launch in early 2027. Spotify says artists and rights holders get royalties when the remixes are streamed.
- If you pay for Spotify, nothing changes today: this is a paid extra planned for early 2027, so your current plan and price are not affected by it.
- If you are an artist or run a label, check whether your distributor is among the partners and what the royalty terms say before your tracks are opened up to remixing.
