Meta's Muse agent helps people cancel forgotten subscriptions
Muse users who gave the agent access to bank and card statements found it a good budgeting coach and cancelled subscriptions they did not need. Stanford research found people forced to decide are about four times more likely to cancel, and that sellers can roughly double revenue from inertia and cancellation friction. AI agents could weaken both, one of the researchers told CNBC.
- If you sell subscriptions, find customers who pay but no longer use the service, and contact them before an agent does.
- Make renewal reminders clear and cancelling easy. Earn the renewal rather than relying on people forgetting.
