Claude Sonnet 5.5: same price, up to 30% cheaper per task
Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5, its mid-tier model. It keeps Sonnet 5's price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 output, runs 30% or more faster, and Anthropic says it costs up to 30% less per task because it needs fewer tokens. It is aimed at everyday work: fixing bugs and making documents, slides and spreadsheets.
- If an automation runs on Sonnet 5, rerun a week of real tasks on 5.5 and compare the cost per finished job.
- Try it on the report or slide deck you rebuild every month, using your own template.
