Google Ads adds channel priority and spend caps, and changes Display Network funding in February
Google announced channel prioritization and budget allocation for Google Ads. You mark channels such as Google Search, Search partners and the Google Display Network as High or Low priority, and set the largest share of your daily budget a low-priority channel may take. The controls roll out globally over the coming months. From February 2027, the current spend setup for Search campaigns with the Display Network turned on goes away, and spend may shift.
- If you run Search campaigns with the Display Network turned on, note your current split now. Google says that to keep today's setup you set the Display Network to Low priority with a 50% budget allocation.
- If you turned off Search partners or the Display Network because they wasted money, wait until the control reaches your account, then test one of them with a small cap and check what it brings in.
