DeepSeek opens its Search and Fetch APIs to everyone at $0.75 per 1,000 calls, alongside a new open-weight Flash model
DeepSeek released DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 on 17 October, which it says gives stronger benchmark results, faster task completion and shorter outputs than the previous version. The model is live on its website, app and API, with open weights on Hugging Face. DeepSeek also opened its Search and Fetch APIs to everyone, at $0.75 per 1,000 calls for each endpoint. Calls made through server-side tools in DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code and Codex are free until billing starts on 31 October 2026 at 16:00 UTC.
- If a developer or agency builds AI tools for your business, ask whether any of them call a paid web search service, and get a monthly call estimate to set against $0.75 per 1,000 calls.
- Before 31 October, ask whoever manages your AI coding tools whether they use DeepSeek search through Claude Code or Codex, so the free period ending does not surprise your bill.
