Googlebook: an $899 laptop built around Gemini
Google opened preorders for the Googlebook at $899. It runs Android with a desktop Chrome browser and builds Gemini into the cursor, called Magic Cursor, plus Rambler, a dictation tool that turns rambling speech into readable text. It comes with 12 months of Google AI Pro, including 5TB of storage. It reaches shops on 4 October in the US and 5 October in Ireland, the UK and elsewhere.
- If staff laptops are due for replacement, wait for hands-on reviews before paying for AI features.
- Try Gemini Live on the machines you already have. TechCrunch notes it does not need new hardware.
