Google Cloud launches the Gemini agent, a single AI agent for work, coming to Workspace Business plans
At Gemini at Work 2026, Google Cloud announced the Gemini agent, which it calls a universal agent for work. It takes an objective, plans the job, uses skills and tools, connects to a company's business systems and returns finished work inside documents, the inbox and developer tools. Google says it picks the best model for each job and has built-in cost controls. 9to5Google reports it is in private preview now, with wider availability soon for Workspace customers on select Business and Enterprise plans.
- If you run Google Workspace, check which plan you are on: the agent is promised for select Business and Enterprise plans, so the plan decides whether you get it.
- Do not build a process around it yet: it is in private preview, and Google has not published pricing or a date on the announcement page.
