Mistral's chief executive told CNBC that the US debate about AI safety has been a cover for the negligence of some competitors. He said agents with many tools can do things you do not expect, so they need monitoring, which Mistral provides for clients' agents. Mistral has no plans to slow model development and says its next model will close much of the gap with US labs.

- If you need your data kept in Europe, add Mistral to your shortlist and test it on a real task alongside your current model.
