Trump sets up a Super Intelligence Force, with Jay Clayton as its chair

TechCrunch· 4 Oct

President Trump announced on Sunday a Super Intelligence Force to coordinate the US government's work on AI, which his administration now calls super intelligence. The Wall Street Journal reports that national intelligence director Jay Clayton will chair it, making him the new AI czar, with FTC chair Andrew Ferguson, Emil Michael of the Department of War and Scott Kupor of the Office of Personnel Management as vice chairs. It reportedly has 120 days to report on AI risks and opportunities.

  • If you sell to US customers or rely on US AI tools, note that the task force report is due early next year and could shape the rules your suppliers follow.
  • With the FTC chair on the task force, make sure any AI claims in your own marketing are true and that you can back them up.
