Anthropic files to list on the stock market, and its paperwork shows $16.3 billion of revenue in six months but no profit yet
Anthropic said on 26 October that it filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering, and intends to list its Class A shares on the Nasdaq under the symbol ANT. The share count and price range are not set yet. The Economic Times, quoting the AP, reports the 335-page filing shows $16.3 billion of revenue in the first half of the year, about 14 times the same period last year, $131.7 billion in cash on 30 June, and a net loss of $80.7 billion that includes a one-time $72.4 billion accounting charge. The top five customers make up about 25% of revenue.
- If you use Claude for work, nothing changes today: the filing is not a price change, and the company says the offering is not yet effective.
- If you rely on one AI vendor for something important, note that the filing names compute spending and a heavy reliance on a few cloud companies as risks, and keep your files in formats you can move.
