OpenAI releases data on 165 work activities people do in ChatGPT, across nearly 100 countries including Ireland

OpenAI· 26 Oct

OpenAI's economic research team released OpenAI Signals data on 26 October exploring 165 work activities across nearly 100 countries, showing how consumers use ChatGPT for work, from preparing instructional materials and developing marketing content to programming and analysing business data. The data is quarterly from the first quarter of 2025 to the third quarter of 2026 and is linked to the O*NET framework of work activities. It includes an interactive chart where you pick a country, such as Ireland, and see how its work use of ChatGPT is split. OpenAI says it shows wide variation between countries.

  • Open the chart on OpenAI's page, pick your country and see which work activities are rising, then try ChatGPT on one of them in your own week.
  • Use it as a prompt for ideas, not proof: it measures messages, not whether the result was good.
