OpenAI says it may train on Daybreak sessions on personal accounts even when 'Improve the model for everyone' is off

OpenAI Help Center· 30 Oct

OpenAI's Data controls help page, updated on 30 October, says that Trusted Access programs such as Daybreak Blue support more sensitive work. During Daybreak sessions on a personal account, OpenAI says it may use content from those interactions to improve its models even when 'Improve the model for everyone' is off, to strengthen safeguards against cyber misuse. The setting still applies to your other activity outside a Daybreak session.

  • In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Data controls, and check that 'Improve the model for everyone' is off if you do not want your normal chats used for training.
  • If you are invited to a Trusted Access program such as Daybreak on a personal account, read the terms first and use a work account or no account for anything private.
