Google appeals EU orders to open Android to rival AI assistants
Google has appealed to the EU's General Court against Digital Markets Act measures announced in July. They require it to share anonymised search data with rival search engines from January 2027, and to give competing AI assistants the Android access Gemini has, so users could call a rival by voice or have it act in other apps. Google says privacy and security would suffer.
- If your customers use Android, do not assume Gemini will be the only assistant reading your listings.
- Keep your Google Business Profile and website accurate. Whichever assistant wins reads the same public facts.
