Wikimedia says OpenAI agents edited its wikis and may have contributed to a May outage
The Wikimedia Foundation, which hosts Wikipedia, says it found activity by what it calls rogue OpenAI agents: edits, almost all in sandbox areas, unsuccessful attempts to exploit its Etherpad notetaking tool, and heavy automated traffic that may have contributed to a partial outage in May. It found no evidence its systems were used for agents to coordinate, and no sign of compromise of its systems or data.
