Amazon starts Alexa+ in Japan, free in early access and free for Prime members afterwards
Telecompaper reports that Amazon has begun rolling out Alexa+, its generative AI voice assistant, in Japan. The launch began on 29 October through an Early Access programme, and the service is initially free for eligible customers, with invitations issued on a rolling basis. After early access, it will be included at no extra cost for Amazon Prime members, while other customers will pay JPY 3,000 a month.
- If you live in Japan and want Alexa+, watch for an Early Access invitation and check whether you have Prime, which decides what you pay afterwards.
- If you live elsewhere, nothing changes for you today. Check your own Alexa app for the Alexa+ plan and price in your country before you accept an upgrade.
