Granola adds free, unlimited voice typing on the Mac that works in any app

TechCrunch· 29 Oct

TechCrunch reports that Granola, known for its meeting notetaker, has launched a dictation feature that currently works on the Mac. You press the Fn key and speak, and the tool cleans up and formats your speech and posts the final text, in any app, so you can write notes, dictate prompts or reply to emails and messages. Granola says it is unlimited words for free, and that iOS and Windows versions are coming soon. TechCrunch notes it comes months after Wispr, a dictation tool, launched a meeting notetaker.

  • If you use a Mac, update Granola, press Fn in any text box and try dictating one email reply before you decide whether it saves you time.
  • Read the app's privacy settings before you dictate anything sensitive, since your speech has to be processed somewhere.
