Google Maps now shows autumn leaves along your route while you navigate, in some US cities until the end of November

9to5Google· 29 Oct

9to5Google reports that Google Maps is rolling out an update that shows fall colours along your navigation route, but not everywhere. It is available in 'applicable US metros' through the end of November, and trees along the side of the road show a pop of orange. Google has not said which cities get it, and Boston is shown in the example video. 9to5Google could only see the colours while navigation was active.

  • If you are in a US city, start a route in Google Maps and look at the roadside trees to see whether you have it.
  • Do not rely on the display to judge road conditions. It is decoration, and the route and traffic information are still what to follow.
