Claude's new smart reports let employers see what staff use the AI for, including 'personal or off-topic' chats
Mashable reports that Anthropic has launched smart reports for paid Claude Enterprise plans. A manager picks a team and a date range of up to 28 days, and Claude reads the team's conversation transcripts, groups them into workstreams and types of output, and shows what was produced and what it cost. The reports also flag 'inefficiencies', including sessions with no usable output and ones classed as personal or off-topic. Anthropic says the reports should not be used to judge individuals or make employment decisions.
- If you use Claude through a work account, assume your employer may be able to see how you use it, and keep personal questions to your own account on your own device.
- If you manage a team on Claude Enterprise, tell your staff before you turn smart reports on, and follow Anthropic's own rule that they are not for judging individuals.
