US District Judge Amit Mehta dismissed antitrust lawsuits from Chegg and Penske Media, which said Google pushed publishers to feed AI Overviews for free or vanish from search, costing them traffic and revenue. Mehta wrote that an expectation of search traffic "is not an agreement" and that the wider economic question is one for lawmakers. Traffic to news outlets and small websites has fallen steeply since AI search arrived.
