Amazon has renamed Kindle Unlimited as Kindle Plus. The Verge reports the price stays at $11.99 a month for ebooks, comics and magazines, now with thousands of audiobooks included at no extra cost in the US catalog. Some are 'virtual voice' audiobooks read by AI narrators. It stays separate from Prime, with up to 20 titles borrowed at once and no return dates.
- If you subscribe in the US, open Kindle Plus on your account and check which audiobooks are included, and whether the one you want is read by a person or an AI voice.
- If you publish through Kindle Direct Publishing, check your KDP Select settings: AI narration is offered as titles are enrolled, you can opt older books in, and human-narrated ACX audiobooks can be included too.
