Amazon adds 100 shopping skills to Alexa, including managing subscriptions and changing delivery instructions by voice

TechCrunch· 29 Oct

TechCrunch reports Amazon has added more than 100 shopping-related capabilities to Alexa ahead of the holidays. You can create and edit lists, change a subscription (for example moving an item from monthly to every three months), edit delivery instructions such as an address or drop-off details, ask about Prime or Audible subscriptions, and ask about billing or payment issues. Amazon says use of its agentic features has grown 8x this year and that over 400 million people have used Alexa for shopping in the last 12 months.

  • Before you let Alexa change a subscription or an address, ask it to read the change back and check the Amazon app afterwards to confirm it.
  • If anyone else can speak to your speaker, set a voice code or purchase PIN in the Alexa app so they cannot change deliveries or subscriptions.
