iOS 27.2 lets you stop Siri AI reading chosen apps, such as Signal, with a new Excluded Apps setting

ELElectronic Frontier Foundation· 28 Oct

The Electronic Frontier Foundation says the latest Apple update, iOS 27.2, adds a setting to exclude apps from Siri AI, which it had asked for in its Encrypt It Already campaign. To use it, open Settings, then Siri, then Excluded Apps, tap Add Apps and pick the ones to block. Siri AI then cannot access the contents of the app. The cost is that some features stop working in those apps.

  • Update to iOS 27.2, open Settings, Siri, Excluded Apps, and add any app with private chats, such as Signal or a banking app.
  • On Android, the EFF says to open the Gemini app, tap your photo, then Settings, Personal Intelligence, Connected Apps, and remove access for apps you do not want Gemini to use.
